ADHD is a condition that affects adults, teens, and children. Adults with ADHD have difficulty focusing, organizing, and procrastinating which can wreak havoc at work and at home. At work it might cause a delay in meeting deadlines, problems with co-workers or even job termination. At home it can often cause conflict with one’s spouse or other family members.
For teens and kids ADHD can result in inattention in class, difficulty with homework, poor grades, or sometimes being left back. For teens or adults taking standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, LSAT, ADHD can affect performance. A proper diagnosis with ADHD testing can grant extra time on exams allowing for someone with ADHD to perform at their true potential. ADHD Institute of Michigan provides a thorough neuropsychological evaluation and treatment for your ADHD.
There are three major types of ADHD:
Our comprehensive ADHD assessment helps determine which type of ADHD may be affecting you or your loved one.
This type of ADHD, formerly known as attention deficit disorder, is characterized by difficulty staying focused, organized, and on-task. Those with Inattentive type ADHD can often lose track of time, misplace everyday items, and have difficulty paying attention to detail.
This type of ADHD often shows up in outwardly observable behaviors marked by excessive energy and impulsivity. People with Hyperactive-Impulsive type ADHD may find themselves constantly fidgeting, tapping, or squirming, making it difficult to sit or work for a continuous period of time.
The Combined Type of ADHD features symptoms from both the Inattentive Type and Hyperactive-Impulsive Type. This means individuals can experience challenges with attention, focus, and organization as well as difficulties with restless and/or impulsive behaviors.
If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the following challenges, an ADHD assessment can provide clarity and direction:
Struggles with maintaining attention or completing tasks
Frequent forgetfulness and disorganization
Difficulty managing time effectively
Impulsivity leading to hasty decisions
Difficulty following conversations or instructions
Restlessness or excessive fidgeting
Challenges in academic, work, or social settings
Identifying ADHD early can help create an effective management plan, leading to improved focus, productivity, and overall well-being.
